Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: I'm a high school student. Which test should I take?
A: All Jefferson County Public High School juniors will be taking the ACT. You may take both tests and you may choose which scores are sent to which colleges. Colleges and Universities accept both tests and can convert one score to another if they have a preference. There is no longer a preferred test. However, taking both tests may make you eligible for a wider range of scholarships. If you are not happy with your score(s), you may take the test more than once to try to improve it.

Q: Should I take the PSAT?
A: Also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), you should take this test only if you are trying to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. If you wish to improve your score on the SAT we recommend practicing with the actual SAT, taking our SAT course and registering for the SAT itself. Visit our Resources section of the website for more information on the PSAT/NMSQT.

Q: What form of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash and checks (made payable to Louisville Test Prep). Credit/debit card processing is coming soon!

Q: Does registering for a Louisville Test Prep course register me for the actual test?
A: No. Please visit our Resources section of the website and go directly to the corresponding web page to register for the test you wish to take.

Q: I have a question not answered on this page. What should I do?

Q: I have a flyer from Louisville Test Prep with class times and rates that are different from the ones listed on this website. Which one is correct?
A: Both are correct. We offer classes at participating high schools at a discounted rate. Those classes have different schedules and offer different services than the ones listed on this website. Please consult your high school counselor for more information about classes offered at your school. If your high school does not offer our class, please ask your counselor to request one!

Q: I heard that Louisville Test Prep offers discounted prices for those on free or reduced lunch. Is that true?
A: Yes, we offer substantial discounts for those on free/reduced lunch as part of our goal to make test preparation available to everyone. However, this program is offered only at select schools.
